The CREATE project represents a groundbreaking 3-year research initiative funded by the ERA-NET FOSC program, bringing together 8 international partners across Netherlands, Morocco, Egypt, and Turkey to address critical climate vulnerabilities in global food systems.

Our innovative approach focuses on assessing cross-border climate risks that affect European food security through trade dependencies with Africa and Turkey, developing novel methodologies for climate risk assessment and adaptation strategies.

Cross-Border Risk Assessment

Evaluate climate risks affecting European food systems through African trade dependencies using novel assessment methodologies.

Hotspot Identification

Identify critical African regions most vulnerable to climate change that directly impact European food security.

Resource Trade Analysis

Quantify embedded resource use including virtual water, land, and carbon emissions in international food trade.
